Foreclosure Prevention, The Hardest Hit Fund Rhode Island

The U.S. Treasury has made available to Rhode Islanders $80 million to help those at risk of losing their homes under The Hardest Hit Fund Rhode Island (HHFRI).  The goal of the HHFRI is to help homeowners who have exhausted all other options to maintain mortgage payments and avoid foreclosure. Click here to read the HHFRI qualifications. Rhode Island Housing will be processing, approving and administering submissions from lenders, servicers and specially trained counselors. They will be holding informational hearings throughout the state about the program. The first meeting will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Christ Church, 7 Elm St., Westerly.  An additional meeting is scheduled for Tue., Feb. 22, at 6 p.m. at the South Kingstown Public Library. More meetings will be scheduled throughout the state in March.  Homeowners, who are having difficulty making mortgage payments due to a documented financial hardship, are encouraged to attend one of these meetings.  Spanish translators will be available.

This Week’s Real Estate Insight:

If you or anyone you know in South County is struggling to make a mortgage payment encourage him or her to attend one of these two meetings. Don’t wait. Foreclosure can be prevented.
